Cora's 4 month stats

Cora is growing and changing! At her 4 month doctors appointment she was 12.5 lbs (25th %ile), 25 inches long (90th %ile) and her head is at the 50th percentile.

These days she likes to:
- pull the pacifier out of her mouth and attempt to put it back (her success rate on this isn't very good thus far)
- reach for toys
- go for walks
- still enjoys prodigious drooling 
- snuggling and being with mom and dad

I have feet!

Cora has officially found her feet this week...caught a couple pics of one of the first times I saw her really noticing them and trying to grab hold of them to bring them into better view.

What happens when mommy gets behind on the laundry?

So after our trip I got a little behind on the laundry - not a big deal, but it resulted in Cora wearing a warm fuzzy velour Christmas outfit to sleep it.  But now it actually fit! At Christmas she looked like a big velour puffball in it - cute but not how it was designed to be worn I'm sure - big difference between 7 and 12 lbs! 

And just so you don't all think I'm a complete schlub as a housewife - she only has 3 nighties - it's not like I hadn't done laundry in weeks...and the Christmas outfit made very soft and cozy PJ's.

California Girl

We had our second trip to California, and this time Cora got to meet lots of people including Great Grandma Yolanda (Tony's Grandma). 

And she'd met Auntie Linda before, but this time I got a picture. 

 

In the mornings she is consistently happy and playful so I'd bring her out for cuddles and smiles with the grandparents...but then you also catch a few yawns as she wakes up. 

Cora's Room - Quilt and Lanterns

While we were awaiting Cora's arrival I had this idea that a mommy should be able to sew - halloween costumes, patches for achivements, etc. So I took a quilting 101 class to kill two birds with one stone - learn to sew/use my sewing machine AND make a quilt for Cora's room.  They assured me that my sewing knowledge could not be too basic for this class ;)  So while the class made a small wall hanging/sampler, I made a twin bed quilt. I will say that it may have been a little ambitious as a first sewing project, much less my first quilt, but it came out great, if I do say so myself ;)  Mom did the binding for me, but I did all the rest myself.

 

The back is made up of the different fabrics on the quilt, but I neglected to take a picture of it yet. You can also see the starburst pattern of the quilting a little bit better on the back since it isn't as busy. In the first picture you can also see part of the "pop art" on the wall - cute and colorful baby outfits! There are five hanging up although I took a couple down for her to wear! 

The other major decor element in her room are colorful paper lanterns above her changing table/dresser. The largest one (yellow) is also a low wattage lamp that is wonderful to turn on (it's connected to the wall switch) at night for diaper changing. It's on in the photo (why it looks brighter than the rest). I think this takes advantage of the high ceilings and adds some pops of color to our buyers beige rental house.
